Changes in your lifestyle can have a big impact on your health. The CommonHealth program strives to make a difference in the health of employees and the workplace by integrating health into the work culture. More than 40 different health promotion services are offered to state agencies, including fitness and stress management, personal health and safety, and weight control and nutrition.
Employees who are participating in one of the health plans offered by the state can take advantage of an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). These services offer counseling sessions for employees and their dependents with up to four sessions at no charge. EAP counselors are available to assist employees with issues related to alcohol, drugs, family, health, legal, financial, housing, mental health, child care, elder care, grief, spousal/child/parent abuse, workplace, career planning, and retirement. Visit our Employee Assistance Program page for EAP information and resources.

The Radford University Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is offering free hearing screenings to faculty, staff, and students during the Fall 2021 semester. Available appointment times are Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:15-9:30 am. Each appointment will be about 10 minutes long.
The Radford University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is following very strict prevention measures to ensure the safety of our clinicians and clients. Therefore, individuals scheduled for a hearing screening will be required to wear a face mask and undergo an a pre-appointment screening at check-in. The clinic will have some disposable masks available if one is forgotten.
Hearing screenings are a shortened form of an evaluation and while they can determine the potential presence of hearing loss, they do not quantify severity of any hearing impairment.
Please Note: These screenings serve as important clinical education experiences and provide student clinicians with mandated hours and experience toward fulfilling licensure requirements to practice as speech-language pathologists. Please keep your appointment or notify the clinic as soon as possible if you are unable to do so. Failure to keep an appointment hinders a students' ability to develop necessary clinical skills needed for graduation and licensure. To schedule your appointment for a hearing screening or to gain more information, please contact the audiology clinic at 540-831-7166.
The Radford University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is located on the first floor of Waldron Hall.
