The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), gives individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing the right to accessible communication. The ADA mandates that public or private entities are responsible for providing this accessibility. Radford University proudly supports deaf and hard of hearing individuals by offering accommodations such as Assistive Listening Devices (ALD), quality Interpreting Services, and Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART) Services.

The National Deaf Association (NAD) has 3 main criteria that captions must comply with:
