WRRC began broadcasting from the campus of Radford College on Oct. 9, 1978. One year later when the school became Radford University, our radio station was
re-christened with our current call letters "WVRU" to reflect the change.
Today, we're a proud affiliate of Public Radio International (PRI), who provide our station and the New River Valley with excellent music, news and
entertainment programming. WVRU is also a member of Virginia Public Radio (VPR), a news source offering reports on state government. Talented students at Radford
University make up the bulk of our on-air staff playing adult alternative, jazz and
other genres that complement our nationally syndicated programming.
