Through their experiences in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, students will develop the knowledge, compassion and professional identity needed to pursue meaningful careers and positively impact their communities.
In support of Radford University’s commitment to empowering brighter futures and building stronger communities, the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders cultivates student excellence through a culture of care, experiential and service-based learning and dynamic faculty–student collaboration. These experiences foster professional growth and prepare graduates to serve as agents of positive change in the campus community and beyond.
The department’s strategic plan was approved by faculty members on November 29, 2023. This plan was constructed to be in alignment with the college's and university's strategic plans. Like the university’s strategic plan, the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders' Two-Year Strategic Plan for 2024 and 2025 [docx] focuses on innovation and distinct experiences that will enhance student-centered learning and engagement, encourage student-faculty collaborations, and prepare students for entry into professional practice.
A new department plan will be developed in alignment with the university's 2026-2031 strategic plan following the Board of Visitors final approval in December 2025.
