"As a student who often forgets to eat before classes and is always doing homework, I look forward to being able to stop by and grab a coffee and snack on the go. I feel like I can get through the day more efficiently. It’s also something I can rely on for social interactions with teachers and students that can help answer questions when I have them.”
Free breakfast items are available every day of the week through the RCAT Food For Thought (FFT) events! Each college hosts once per week, and students can come by and get a free snack and hot beverage. While this helps address food insecurity, it also works to build community among the faculty and students who attend the events. Some colleges even use this time for collaborative faculty office hours, reaching students basic needs and academic needs at the same time!
"I honestly look forward to the Food for Thought on Fridays. It’s nice to be able to know there’s a place where I can get food. I don’t have a job, so I don’t have much money to spend on things like snacks and fresh fruit. I also enjoy being able to chat with professors and other students. And the therapy dog there is the best!”
