Grading FAQs

• Make sure to select the correct semester or term when prompted
• Do not assign incomplete grades for midterms.  Please give the most suitable grade available currently to assist in student success efforts
• You will be able to make changes to your midterm rosters until the midterm grading due date

Why are midterm grades required?

Faculty are required to provide midterm grades for all students in undergraduate courses (see section 2.8 in the T&R Faculty Handbook).

How do I access midterm grade rosters in SSB?

• Access your midterm grade rosters by logging into the OneCampus portal
• Search “Faculty Self Service Banner”
• Select “Enter Grades”
• Select “Midterm Grades” tab
• Select the desired course and scroll down to the grade entry screen to enter grades

How will I know if a student has withdrawn from my class?

See the registration status column to determine if a student has withdrawn.

When does midterm grade entry begin?

You will receive notification from the Office of the Registrar when midterm grade entry is open and the deadline to enter and submit. Grading deadlines can be found on the academic calendar.

• Make sure to select the correct semester or term when prompted.
• Enter a grade for all students.
• Withdrawal and audit grades will already appear on your roster and cannot be changed.  If you think a student has withdrawn from your class, but is still appearing as registered, assign the earned final grade.
• If a student has been attending your class, but does not appear on your final grade roster, please contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar@radford.edu or (540) 831-5271.
• Incomplete grades require a Course Completion Contract form.  When saving a grade roster containing an incomplete grade, you will be prompted to complete the Contract form.  The Contract form must be completed and saved before grades will be saved.  At the end of the grading period, the contract is electronically distributed to the instructor, student, and the Office of the Registrar.  To change an incomplete grade to a final grade, a Grade Change form must be submitted in OneCampus.  Incomplete grades that are not changed to a final letter grade will be lapsed to “F” grades according to university policy.
• Save your work often.  The final grade roster page has a 60-minute time limit.  Students will be able to view final grades following end of term processing.

When are final grades due?

Communication concerning final grade entry will be sent via email when grading is open and the deadline to enter and submit.  Grading deadlines can also be found on the academic calendar.

Why is it important to submit grades by grading deadlines?

• Timely final grade submission is critical for processes that impact students like financial aid, academic standing, graduation, and obtaining official transcripts.  
• Late grades result in delays to end of term processes that are important for student success and preparation for upcoming semesters.

What if I miss the deadline to submit final grades?

If you've missed entering final grades in OneCampus during the grading period, individual grade change forms must be submitted for each student.  Search “Grade Change” in OneCampus to get started.
