The Radford University Libraries has a staff of helpful librarians to support student and faculty research, scholarship and the free and open exploration of ideas. Specific services include library instruction, research help, interlibrary loan, and adaptive technology. The libraries have a large collection of books, DVDs, journals, archival materials, and multimedia equipment for academic and recreational use. Thousands of electronic resources can be accessed from anywhere in the world. The diversity of spaces and furnishings allows for everything from individual quiet study spaces to group media rooms. Our libraries’ services, collections, and spaces are designed to invite and inspire learning and intellectual and artistic creativity.
You really can find your spot while you’re visiting the University Libraries. McConnell Library has several small group spaces, classroom spaces, and a conference room that may be reserved for group study or meetings. To reserve a space, contact Beth Johnson, or stop by McConnell Library’s Administration Office located immediately to the left as you enter the library’s main entrance.
The RUC Library has spaces to study individually or as a group. Whether you need a quiet spot to focus or a large table to spread out your notes, the RUC Library has what you need. To reserve a space, contact Jamie Price or stop by the RUC Library front desk.
Need quiet space? On the main campus in McConnell Library, Level 5 is for silent study. Try a table, study carrel, or one of our comfy chairs or bean bags. You might also enjoy using Information Literacy Center A (Room 350) when it is not in use for instruction classes.
At RUC, the section of the library located by the back windows is designated for silent study. This space has 3 computer stations and 9 private study carrels. There is also space in the Highlander Study Center on the 4th floor (room 432 next to the Highlander House) that is open 24/7. Use your prox card (issued by Student Accounts) to enter.
Need group work space?
The RUC Library has several different spaces for group work. There are two group study areas located at the back of the RUC Library Computer Lab (Room 505). Both spaces have large whiteboards.
Groups can also use the tables in the main area of the library, which can accommodate groups of two to six people. Group study spaces can also be found in the Highlander Study Center on the 4th floor (Room 432 next to the Highlander House), which are open 24/7. Use your prox card (issued by Student Accounts) to enter).
