The Harvey Center for Learning and Writing (Harvey Center) supports students in setting and achieving academic goals. Using a learner-centered approach, we offer free academic consulting and seminars to support students' skills and confidence in navigating the opportunities and challenges of their coursework. Our focus is to help students develop and leverage their own strategies for learning that can extend beyond the questions that bring them to our center. We have tools and resources to support a variety of academic goals.
The services we provide can support students with all kinds of academic goals. However, students often wonder if academic tutoring is right for them. We have listed some common reasons that might bring you to our center:
Please be aware that the Harvey Center is NOT a replacement for going to class.
Our Tutors work to put you in the driver's seat of your own learning. They will ask you about your goals, learn more about your academic experiences, and guide you as you explore assigned topics, learn strategies for understanding and remembering material, and discover methods for organization and time management.
Tutors also help students with all stages of their learning, from goal-setting to test preparation. The focus of each tutor is to faciliate your learning process and empower you to achieve your goals
For students with physical disabilities, the Harvey Center has special entrances. However, the Harvey Center is prepared to meet students in other, more convenient, places on campus.
The Harvey Center for Learning and Writing is located in McConnell Library on the 4th floor.
