Heather Wahl is a NYC-based actor, producer, director, and theatre educator with extensive experience in arts education and program leadership. She is the Founding Artistic Director of Speranza Theatre Company, where she also serves as Co-Director of the Educational Division. With Speranza, she has produced 20 original plays, numerous staged readings, and community events. Outside of Speranza, she has directed and/or choreographed more than 50 productions. Her work centers on creating rigorous, student-centered theatre experiences that integrate historical storytelling, collaboration, and creative skill development.
Acting highlights include the 50th Anniversary National Tour of Singin’ in the Rain, and she has performed onstage in nearly all 50 states. Selected credits include portraying Mary T. Norton in the world premiere of Mary & Eleanor (Speranza Theatre); A Piece of My Heart (Speranza Theatre); Loose Knit (Centenary Stage); A Body of Water (Garage Theatre); The Daughters of Eve (Cherry Lane); Scenes From an Execution (59E59); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (dir. Austin Pendleton); and Anne Boleyn in Rex (world premiere revival).
Heather holds an M.F.A. in Acting from The New School for Drama and a B.F.A. in Dance with a Minor in Women’s Studies from Wright State University. She taught at the 2025 Summer Residential Governor’s School and will serve as Theatre Coordinator for the Governor’s School in summer 2026, where she is excited to bring professional theatre practices into this educational setting in order to support student learning and artistic growth.
