Campus Announcements

Update: Friday, Jan. 23

Campuses will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26, all classes and events are canceled 

Radford University’s campuses will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26, including locations in Radford and Roanoke (Radford University Carilion and Roanoke Higher Education Center). All in-person, hybrid and online classes will be canceled. In addition, all events scheduled on campuses for Monday are canceled. 

Employees designated by job description as essential personnel should report to work as advised by their supervisors.  

Main Campus Resources and Support Services Available on Monday 

  • The Bonnie will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday. 
  • The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be open noon-4 p.m. on Monday. 
  • The Health Center will be available virtually on Monday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Students should call 540-831-5111 to schedule a virtual appointment and visit the Student Health Services website for more information.  
  • Students should visit Dine-On Campus for updated hours of operation for campus dining options. 
  • Students can refer to the Campus Announcements page for additional information regarding campus resources available Saturday-Monday.  
  • The campus post office will be closed on Monday.  

We will continue to monitor weather conditions and will communicate any further operational changes in a timely manner. The safety and well-being of our students and employees are our top priorities, and our operational decisions are designed to achieve these priorities.

Update: Thursday, Jan. 22

Due to the inclement weather forecast for this weekend, events scheduled on Radford University’s main campus for Saturday and Sunday have been canceled. In addition, the Roanoke Higher Education Center will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. 

Main campus resources and support services available this weekend 

  • A wide range of dining options will be open throughout the weekend. Visit Dine-On Campus for the exact hours of operation for the following options. 
  • Dalton Hall will be open for food services, including Dalton Kitchen, 1910 Cafe, Bowl Life, Tartan Pizza and Wendy’s. 
  • The Bonnie will be open from noon-4 p.m., with select hours of operation for Honeycomb Commons, Hissho Sushi and Student Choice. 
  • Starbucks will be open for select hours. Use the side entrance, as Hemphill Hall will be closed. 
  • The Highlander Bookstore will be available for online shopping. 
  • Student Recreation and Wellness will be open from noon-4 p.m.  
  • University Libraries services will be available online. 

Tips for staying safe in inclement weather 

  • Avoid unnecessary travel. 
  • Plan ahead for meals, medications and essential items. 
  • Dress for winter conditions, including warm layers and appropriate footwear. 
  • Use caution when walking, as walkways and parking areas may be slippery. 
  • Allow extra time to get where you need to go. 
  • If you need help or have an emergency, contact RUPD 540-831-5500or call 911 for immediate assistance.
