In the Department of Anthropological Sciences at Radford, we provide all of our students with intense and personalized training in anthropology so you will be prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
From your first semester through your last, your professors will meet with you individually to help you to devise your customized plan of study. Anthropology is a wide field and our students are encouraged to look for classes within the major and outside the department that will enrich their understanding in their chosen field.
Not sure what you want to do with your Anthropology degree? Students don't need to pick a path immediately. Faculty advisors will help you identify goals and to find the right classes for your interests.
We know each of our students as individuals and that every student has varied and unique interests. We will work with you to optimize your path so that you take classes and have experiences that are enriching and engaging. Your time as an anthropology major will set you up to be successful in college and after graduation.
Some anthropology alumni work as forensic anthropologists in crime labs, cultural attachés in foreign countries, and archaeologists at sites like "Jamestown Rediscovery." Others work in medical examiner offices, archaeological digs, or even the FBI.
Anthropology also helps alumni succeed in business, marketing, and non-profit work. Plus, many alumni have moved into healthcare fields like becoming doctors, physical therapists, or occupational therapists.
An anthropology degree is flexible and gives you the skills for a wide variety of positions. Below are positions held and graduate programs our alumni are enrolled in:
