IV. Prerequisites: STAT 200.
V. Course Description:
Students focus on the concepts and methods of epidemiology and its application to
public health and clinical practice. The epidemiological approach is utilized to understand
disease mechanisms, measure population health, and develop interventions designed
to modify and improve health. The application of basic epidemiology measures is used
to draw appropriate inferences from epidemiological data.

VI. Goals and Objectives of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will:
- Apply epidemiological principles to identify causal relationships for diseases.
- Describe evidence-based strategies for improving population health.
- Explain how the epidemiological process can be utilized to address health problems
and inequities.
- Apply appropriate epidemiology concepts and statistical measures to the determinants
of heath.
