NURS 488: Final Honors Project

Prerequisites: Enrollment in the Honors Academy, completion of all other Honors Academy requirements, a minimum 3.5 GPA in all courses and in the School of Nursing

Credit Hours: (3)

Project and the topic to be explored will be determined by the student and the faculty member with whom the student works. (Honors project may be a written or a written and performance-based project.) In order to receive honors credit, a student must earn a grade of “A” or “B” for the final project.

Note(s): Course may not be repeated.

 

Detailed Description of Content of Course

The content of the course will vary with each student. The student will write either a professional paper or conduct a research project. All final honors projects must be approved by the School of Nursing and the Honors Council.

 

Detailed Description of Conduct of the Course

The student's final project supervisor will ask two other faculty members to serve as readers. The student's work will be evaluated by this committee.

 

Goals and Objectives of Course

The goal of this course is to provide students in the Honors Program majoring in Nursing with the opportunity to synthesize their knowledge of Nursing. The final project should demonstrate the ability to analyze and synthesize, to write a sustained piece of original work or research, and to communicate ideas effectively.
