V. Course Description:
This course examines the roles, principles, theories, models, and health policies
in healthcare practice. Emphasis is on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required
for interdisciplinary leadership in the clinical setting.
VI. Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Incorporate selected theories and models into nursing practice.
Integrate effective communication skills in negotiation, conflict management, and
interdisciplinary collaboration in a culturally diverse workforce.
- Demonstrate accountability for patient outcomes when delegating to and supervising
other members of the healthcare team.
- Apply quality improvement processes to effectively implement patient safety initiatives
and monitor performance measures.
- Examine the impact of health policies on nursing practice across diverse populations.
- Analyze health policies and the legal, social, economic, and political factors that
influence healthcare delivery at the local, state, and national level.
