V. Course Description: This course fosters an environment for the nursing student
to implement Evidence-Based Practice, nursing theory, and holistic core values/principles
into their professional practice. Students will apply their current knowledge and
skills, while building new ones, to implement behavioral change strategies, fulfill
nurse coaching activities, and integrate holism into their care delivery. Florence
Nightingale advocated for patient care that was unified, health/wellness focuses and
collaborative in delivery which is the desired practice change component of this course.

VII. Goals and Objectives of the Course:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the scope and standards of holistic nursing practice (E- III, VIII, IX; PO-

- Analyze current trends in holistic nursing practice (E-I, II; PO- 1,2)
- Describe the holistic caring process and holistic communication (E- VI, IX; PO- 6,9)
- Review the physiological connection between the body and mind and compare and contrast
mind-body practices for holistic health (E-I, VI, VII; PO- 1,6,7)
- Integrate strategies to promote cultural diversity and holistic health into nursing
practice (E- VII, VIII, IX; PO- 7,8,9)
- Connect the holistic nursing role to leadership, education, research activities, and
interprofessional modalities (E- III, VIII, IX; PO- 3,8,9)
- Incorporate self-care strategies into personal health practices as well as educate
