V. Course Description:
Students develop psychomotor, cognitive, and affective nursing skills and the theoretical
basis necessary to practice safely and competently across the lifespan. This course
is presented in an integrated lecture/skills practice format. (2 credits lecture,
2 credit skills practice)
VI. Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Identify fundamental safety practice skills and infection control to be used in the
healthcare profession.
- Perform dosage calculations and medication administration competently and accurately.
- Apply the nursing process and competent nursing skills to provide patient-centered
care.
- Integrate knowledge and skills in informatics and patient care technology in nursing
care.
- Demonstrate professionalism, therapeutic communication, and cultural and ethnic awareness
when using nursing skills.
