A problem-solving course designed to help reduce uncertainty in the decision-making environment of operations and production in manufacturing and service firms of private and public sectors of the economy. Emphasis on employment of mathematical models for use and application in decision making in business.

Methods of instruction are designed to develop a knowledge base, enhance critical thinking, create an awareness of strategic value, and provide practical operations related skills. Participation includes case studies, exercises, problem assignments, outside reading, and a team project replicating self-managed teams. Global and strategic considerations are emphasized along with practical techniques and computer applications.
