Credot Jpirs: (2) Two hours lab
An introduction to advanced techniques in computer-aided design for interiors. Applications include three-dimensional modeling, rendering and animation.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
The purpose of this course is to teach students advanced techniques of computer-aided design including three-dimensional models. Simulation provides an opportunity for visualizing and evaluating three-dimensional concepts and designs. Topics include: file management; computer modeling; color visualization and computer rendering; animation and lighting techniques; digital portfolio design.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Computer modeling skills are developed through exercises, tutorials, an projects. Final design solutions are evaluated through simulated three-dimensional computer models. In addition, students are exposed to a variety of software media for potential utilization in portfolio development.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will demonstrate the…
1) Skill in evaluating three-dimensional design decisions.
2) Skill in utilizing various software programs for developing an electronic portfolio.
3) Competency in utilizing advanced CAD techniques for design applications.
4) Competency in rendering simple 3-D representations of interior spaces.
5) Skills to apply a variety of communication techniques and technologies appropriate
to a range of purposes and audiences. (6a)
6) Skill to produce competent presentation drawings across a range of appropriate
media. (6d)
7) Effective application of the elements, principles, and theories of design to three-dimensional
design solutions. (9b)
8) Effective application of color to three-dimensional models, etc.) (10d)
9) Interaction of color and light and the impact they have on one another and interior
environments. (10b)
Assessment Measures
Assessment measures may include quizzes, tutorials, and projects. Application of software media for successful completion of project objectives is an integral part of the evaluation criteria for all projects.
