IV. Prerequisites: Junior Standing and either ITEC 145 or ITEC 345.
V. Course Description:
The course covers principles, policies, procedures and management in security. It
includes information assurance governance, risk, compliance, planning and procedures.

- c. Information Security Risk Management
- d. Certification, Accreditation and Assessment
- e. Security Planning
- f. Information Assurance Awareness and Training
- g. Capital Planning and Investment in Information Assurance
- h. Contingency Planning and Incident Response
- i. Information Assurance laws
VII. Goals and Objectives of the Course:
Students who complete this course will be able to:
- a. Explain the roles and responsibilities of people involved in information security
governance
- b. Explain the role of policy and procedures in information security governance.
- c. Explain the certification, accreditation and assessment of information security
programs
- d. Explain the security planning process.
- e. Explain the role of security training and awareness programs in an information
security program.
- f. Explain capital planning and investments in security governance
- g. Explain contingency planning and incident response planning for security breaches.
- h. Identify laws pertaining the information assurance and security programs.
- i. Students will be able to effectively communicate needs and issues to other members
of an organization.
VIII. Assessment Measures:
Assessment of student achievement will be measured by various assignments which can
include quizzes, exams, homework assignments and written papers.
Written assignment(s) assessing a student’s ability to effectively communicate with
other members of an organization is required.
