V. Course Description: The capstone course is a culminating learning experience based on the integration of content presented in the MHA program. This course is taken with the permission of the Program Director and is repeatable. This course enables the student to explore in greater detail an approved relevant topic. (Pass/Fail)

Weeks 1-2

  • Introduction and Project Identification (Prior to start)
  • Complete project/mentor Agreement
    • Meet with course faculty by appointment to discuss the project

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Course is conducted synchronously and offered in multiple formats. D2L weekly module-based assignments of readings, lectures, guest speakers, discussions, exams, case studies, presentations, group activities, and reflective learning. 

 

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Appraise literature for research design relevant to the capstone project. 
  2. Design a healthcare administration project proposal. 
  3. Collect data relevant to the project.
  4. Evaluate data from the capstone project findings.
  5. Prepare a formal written manuscript of the project.
  6. Defend the project orally.

 

Assessment Measures

Students will be assessed on their literature review, project design, data collection methodology, summative final manuscript project, and oral defense.
