V. Course Description:
Students will learn how healthcare has evolved, learning about different healthcare
delivery systems and provider models. Aspects of healthcare as a business and healthcare
as a way of improving the wellbeing of the community will be addressed. Students
will gain general knowledge about administrative processes that increase productivity,
organization and overall success of a business in the healthcare industry.

- Overview of the healthcare system
- Understand the theories relating to healthcare leaders and paper on the leader style
of the student choosing
- Read and ACHE Code of Ethics and compare/contrast to another profession
- The Importance of quality care and payment
- Understand and describe value-base care now and in the future
- Change management and healthcare leaders

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply principles and skills and develop practical strategies to enhance personal and
organization performance.
- Identify healthcare management theories and concept as applied in the healthcare organization.
- Understand the importance of values and ethics relating to healthcare administrative
leaders and other healthcare disciplines.
- Describe healthcare administration concepts and principles towards the change within
the healthcare environment, value-base care, population health, technology, quality
and risk management.
