Examines the legal, political, and social issues impacting emergency services including
employment, personnel, administration, operations, planning, code enforcement, and
legislative and political processes.
VI. Goals and Objectives of the Course:
- Discuss potential legal and political issues in fire and emergency services.
- Describe legal lessons learned from recent cases, and identify best practices in the
fire service and emergency services to avoid legal liability.
- Analyze legal rules and political issues to manage risk.
- Formulate an action plan based on political and legal conclusions and recommendations.
- Conduct an analysis of a proposed or existing law using legal and legislative online
resources.
- Develop a written action plan to satisfy a code or policy citation.
