DNCE 365: Performance Practicum

Prerequisite: DNCE 260
Provides students with an intensive experiential application of dance performance.
This course is intended for students who wish to further explore and develop skills
related to dance performance through participation in closely supervised creative
dance projects.
Note(s): May be taken multiple times for credit.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
The purpose of the course is to expose the student to the intensive process of learning dance works, developing the appropriate performance skills and techniques and artistically presenting works in actual dance production:
1. Audition and production preparation
2. Rehearsals
3. Stage performances
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
A professional approach in which the students of dance develop and exhibit skills in the area of dance performance through practical application and rehearsal resulting in public presentation. Students will meet regularly with their supervising faculty member and be expected to document their experience and progress through, but not restricted to, digital recording, journals, etc.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
At the conclusion of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate an advanced application of practices involved in dance performance including responsible attendance at all rehearsals in preparation for performances and successful presentation of artistic performance techniques.
Assessment Measures
Assessment measures include direct observation, regular attendance at rehearsals, and evaluation of performance skills as displayed in performance settings.
