CS 440 - Data Engineering

Instructional Method: Three hour lecture; project based.
Prerequisites: A grade of 'C' or better in CS 220 and CS 370.
Pre- or Corequisites: CS 340.
Cross-Listed: CS 540.

Project-based learning experience to acquire programming skills to ingest, transform, and explore data. Students gain hands-on experience: (1) building pipelines to collect, process, visualize, and store data, and (2) assessing data quality while exploring, cleaning, and preparing data for analysis, machine learning, and other data science applications. Emphasizes programming techniques for parallel and distributed environments including server clusters and cloud computing.
