Brief Description: Students will work closely with a faculty member on an independent project in African American Studies. An Independent Study proposal must be signed by the student, the supporting faculty member, the student’s academic advisor and the department’s chairperson prior to the deadline for adding courses in the term in which the study is to be undertaken. Independent Study courses may be taken either on a pass-fail basis or for a letter grade. No student may apply more than six hours of credit for Independent Study toward graduation requirements.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
The Independent Study is offered to give students the opportunity to work independently with a faculty member on a topic or issue relevant to African American Studies. The specific topic or issue will be agreed upon by the student and the faculty member.
