The Philosophy and Religious Studies major is ideal for curious minds who care about

empathy and interest in other people. As a PHRE major, you’ll learn skills in complex
problem-solving, moral, and ethical reasoning, and analyzing and understanding arguments.

All Philosophy and Religious Studies (PHRE) students have opportunities to complete
internships, capstone projects, and to collaborate with faculty on research projects.
Our students are heavily involved with the on-campus student research conference called
the Wicked Festival that is held each semester, and many PHRE students participate
in mock trials.

Internships at Radford help you get your foot in the door
PHRE students who complete internships find successful employment. Paige Emmer (‘22)
completed an internship in the department during her last semester and was placed
as the Women’s Resource Center’s inaugural Administrative and Outreach Intern. Combining
skills and capabilities developed through experiential learning in PHRE, Paige excelled
so well that she was offered a full-time position at WRC before the internship had
even concluded.
