The Data Science credential consists of five courses:
Courses and Credits | Description |
---|---|
CBIT 343 (3 credits) Data Quality and Visualization | This course covers the basics of data visualization and exploratory data analysis. Using Tableau, a user-friendly data analytics, and visualization tool, we effectively provide step-by-step methods to apply data visualization techniques in quality analysis. Much of what we show you focuses on the visualization approach for practical quality analysis. We do this to explore the data, analyze it, and bring it together using Tableau and other modern methods and tools. |
GEOS 125 (3 credits) Introductions to Geospatial Data and Technology | This course introduces learners to numerous subjects related to geospatial data and technologies used today. From sources and types of geospatial information, geospatial data models, geodesic science, metadata standards, and requirements, we conduct a full review of technologies and science involved in using geospatial data and technology. Participants will learn how to utilize geospatial technology to address social and environmental issues while grasping fundamental knowledge of geospatial organizations that help conform to standards established by the government and civilian organizations. |
CBIT 101 (3 credits) Foundations of Cybersecurity | This course provides you with the knowledge and tools necessary to research, identify, minimize, mitigate or eliminate threats that are faced in today's modern connected world. Additionally, it will introduce you to fundamental networking and security concepts like cryptography, operating systems, security models, network hardening, and administrative security. |
CBIT 240 (3 credits) Data and Web Security | This course provides the principles and practices of implementing computer database security, typically utilizing Oracle and standard SQL in modern businesses and industries; to include database auditing, principles, and reliability. |
CBIT 243 (3 credits) Data Curation | This course enhances data literacy and introduces methods and techniques for documenting data, curating data, and organizing information by applying taxonomic principles. |
