"Radford's RCPT program was the best professional decision I ever made for myself because the knowledge and skills that I gained are put to use every day. The professors and the program shaped me into the well-rounded recreation professional and leader I am today, and I continue to learn from them."

At the Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism (RCPT), we believe in the power of recreation to enrich lives and make a positive impact on individuals, communities, and the environment. Our mission is to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to create meaningful and sustainable recreational opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
Recreation, Parks and Tourism students can become key leaders in our Adventure Based Learning Experience (RU ABLE), guiding campus and community groups on outdoor adventures. Through hands-on involvement and an in-house certification process, students can achieve Student Leader Facilitator status, gaining valuable skills and real-world experience.
