Kathleen Poole has been a faculty member in the Department of Health and Human Performance
at Radford University for the past 17 years. Prior to teaching at Radford University,
she taught in the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise at Virginia Tech
for 7 years. Poole is a health educator and registered dietitian with over 25 years
of experience in public health and community health. She currently teaches or has
previously taught the following courses: International Health; Community Health Diseases
and Disorders; Community Health and Epidemiology; Exercise, Performance, and Nutrition;
Health Communication and Coaching, Community and Cultural Nutrition, and Consumer
Health. Poole is proficient at body composition measurement using the BOD POD as well
as cholesterol measurement using the Cholestech. For 16 years, Poole and her colleagues
worked with NFL officials to enhance their health and officiating performance. For
10 years, Poole and her husband, Jon Poole, conducted body composition assessments
for football officials in several collegiate conferences including the ACC, Conference
USA, Western Athletic Conference, Southland Conference, and Big 10 Conference. In
her spare time, she enjoys running and has completed 20 marathons and one Ironman
triathlon.
