I joined the Department of Economics at Radford University in 2005, after receiving my M.A. and Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Western Michigan University and B.A. in Economics from Addis Ababa University. My teaching and research areas are economic development, applied microeconomics and econometrics, data analytics and pedagogy. My current research focuses on intergenerational mobility, returns to schooling, educational investments in children, and generally intrahousehold resource allocation issues in developing countries. I also publish in sports analytics and economics pedagogy. At RU I teach microeconomics, economic development, global economy and business, current topics and managerial economics. Outside work I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, playing and watching soccer, and following sports.
