The school hosted “The Business of Sports” on Oct. 23, a forum at which guest speakers talked about careers in athletics and the changing landscape of the industry. Students also had opportunities to gain professional advice, and the college welcomed men’s basketball coach Zach Chu.

“The feedback from the students and the firms showed it was another successful event,” said Associate Professor of Accounting Mike Chatham of the most recent Firm Night, which in early September hosted more than 90 students and 30 visiting companies.

More than 200 students attended the event, held Sept. 11 by the Davis College of Business and Economics. The Biz Expo gave students a practical overview of the college’s many majors and disciplines, but it did so with fun, games and a truckload of free ice cream.
Radford University has been awarded a $60,000 grant from the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI), marking the university’s second award from the organization.

The annual forum, held Oct. 16 at Kyle Hall, welcomed New River Valley business owners, including Bukola “Bookie” Fabiyi, a healthcare professional who runs the company We Live and Eat Well, and Max Scheutz, who co-owns and operates Blacksburg’s Oasis World Market.
On Sept. 5, visiting representatives from 25 companies mingled on campus with 80 Radford students and alums for the Davis College of Business and Economics’ annual job fair.

“Firm Night,” the business college’s annual gathering, will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Multi-Activity Center (MAC) at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. This year, the event will expand to include information systems majors and Radford business alums.
