Department of Economics

Our department prepares students to explore current events, sharpen analytical skills, create and evaluate arguments about economic issues, analyze public policies and identify chains of cause and effect.  Students learn key economic frameworks for making choices and apply those frameworks to all sorts of situations.

  • Held Feb. 12 at Kyle Hall, the statewide JVG Ignite competition – designed to demonstrate innovation, knowledge and preparation – saw five students receive $1,000 each in Radford University scholarship funds.

  • The school hosted “The Business of Sports” on Oct. 23, a forum at which guest speakers talked about careers in athletics and the changing landscape of the industry. Students also had opportunities to gain professional advice, and the college welcomed men’s basketball coach Zach Chu.

  • This week: Aspiring physician assistants at Radford University Carilion hold their second health fair; music therapy major Leah Bratton adopts a single-handed approach to the piano; a new business moves into The Hub @ Radford University; and several Highlanders join the faculty rosters of Roanoke County schools.

AACSB Accreditation

The graduate and undergraduate programs in business administration offered by the Davis College of Business and Economics at Radford University are accredited by the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Davis College has been accredited by AACSB since 1992 and received extension of its accreditation in 2023. Less than 5% of business schools in the world are AACSB accredited (more than 950 business schools worldwide), so you can be assured the business degree you'll earn from Radford University is of high quality and highly respected by the business community.

The AACSB International is recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and by the Office of Postsecondary Accreditation, U.S. Department of Education, as the sole accrediting agency for bachelor and master's degree programs in business administration and accounting.
